Summer time hair Care

The best times of the year are spent out doors in the summer at the lake, by the pool or playing sports. Consequently most of the damage done to our hair in the year is during the summer. Unfortunately wearing a ball cap or bathing cap all the time doesn’t happen, because it is the best way to keep your hair healthy. Follow these tips to swim and play to your hearts content.
IN THE POOL FUN
Water log your hair before jumping in the pool. Try soaking your hair with warm water for a few minutes before heading outside, the more water in your hair the less the chlorinated water that will soak in.
Wash your hair immediately after leaving the pool water. If the chemicals are allowed to dry in the hair, the damage could be more severe. You should use a gentle clarifying shampoo to remove the majority of the chemicals. Be sure to use a deep conditioner after wards.
Use a leave-in conditioner. Spraying in a leave-in conditioner before you dive in will act as a body armor to fend off the harmful chemicals and UV rays.
FUN IN THE SUN
While playing outside with the kids or sitting by the lake you should always wear sun block. Sun block on your skin is a no brainer but do you protect your hair and scalp too? The suns rays will prematurely age your hair as it does your skin. Always wear a hat or use a leave-in conditioner with SPF.
The summer months are full of fun in the out doors make sure your hair and scalp are protected. These tips will help to keep your hair healthy and shiny all summer long no matter how long you spend in the sun.
