Blow Dryer Etiquette

Blow Dryer Etiquette

It would seem that a blow dryer is a simple enough tool that it would be used correctly.  However many women don't, simply because they were taught improperly.  Incorrect use of a blow dryer results in the loss of moisture in the hair which creates a dry frizzy look.
The first important thing to consider is dryer quality.  The most efficient dryers have variable temperatures, airflow and even a cool shot button.
Next on the list is products: thermal protection is needed for blow drying, even healthy hair needs thermal protection.  These products are necessary but selection is based on personal preference.  There is no one product to suit everyone.  Any gel, mousse, serum, or leave-in conditioner will work if it provides a heat barrier from your appliance.  Many styling products contain thermal protection while also helping to produce the style you desire.
Okay so last is your blow drying method.  For best style results, blow dry your hair to remove the bulk of the water.  Then apply your root lifter or texturizer (if you use one).  Next you can section your hair and use your brush to finish out your style.  Keeping in mind that when you want to create a curl you should dry the hair around the brush then use the cool shot to set it.
Happy styling!
